Self Esteem and Anxiety in Teens

When people ask me, who do I see in my practice, it seems to go in cycles. Lately, I have been seeing a lot of teens for a whole host of issues, mainly surrounding the issue of anxiety. With so many pressures within social, academic and family realms, it kind of seems like a reasonable response to me. It is crucial to validate your teen’s feelings, allow them to express their emotions, then follow it up with some problem solving. Try to be patient, and don’t feel the need to “fix” it to avoid potential emotional response. Your kids need a safe outlet, and home is the best place they can totally be themselves.
